Thanksgiving In Ohio - Pics and Video
So I decided to travel to Ohio this year for Thanksgiving to spend some much needed time with my family. I am so glad I did! I had a blast! I saw some people I hadn't seen in 15 years. It was wonderful and nostalgic. These people know the inner me better than anyone. You have to remind yourself where you came from in order to know where you are going... It was a love fest :)
My big brother Terrence and Ronnie
My niece Brooklyn
Day Day, Ciara and Hoagy
Ciara, Suechee and Paula - Suechee did the cooking and all I can say is Blackberry Cobbler lol
My brother and his lady Ciara
Generations
Me and Ciara
My brother and Rob Wade
Had a chance to visit my Granny... She got sick right after I left :( I ask for your prayers please.
My Uncle Lee and cousin Chuckie
Ohi State vs. Michigan rival in effect!
Reggie Reg!
Trent-Dog!

My niece Mariah in the black...
In this video we just got spanked in spades after running the table for hours. The guys are super excited that they beat the champs. Excuse the my language lol but you know how it is in competition!

Jean-Michel Basquiat - The Radiant Child
I have been fascinated by Jean-Michel Basquiat every since I saw the fairly unknown (at the time) Jeffrey Wright portray him on film. I am a huge fan of both of them now.
With all that said, I can't wait to see the full documentary directed by Tamra Davis! This is just a couple snippets/trailers. Enjoy! Art's Immortal Rock Star!!! Shout out to my good friend Fab Five Freddie who is also in the documentary.

Vogue's Black Barbie Issue
I guess with the "black model" issue doing so well last year, they decided to add some more chocolate. This time in doll form. Loves it!!! I remember getting my first black barbie. She was so fly and actually dark brown like me. I now had a friend for my white barbie (Black barbies weren't always in stock) I could dress her up millions of ways, and I couldn't wait til birthdays and xmas for new accesories. Memories :)

Unreleased Footage of MJ Pepsi Burn Shoot
US Weekly just bought this never seen before footage from Pepsi. The commercial was shot in 1984. This is when Michael probably developed his addiction to pain killers. That looked scary as hell.

Chosen Few Picnic 2009
The biggest House Music Party in the country is held in Chicago annually. It's called The Chosen Few Picnic. I was there last year but couldn't make it this year due to work. I am still a little salty but entertainment work comes when it wants to lol I am NOT complaining! Would have loved to have been there because it is the party of the year! Nonstop house music, good eats, great folks, alcoholic beverages flowing, great weather = A BLAST! I won't miss it next year!!!!!!!! DJ's include: DJ Terry Hunter, Dj Wayne Williams, Maurice Joshua and DJ FLEX. Shout out to Dr. Luv.

Michael Jackson Laid To Rest Today :(

It started to really hit me last night listening to my favorite MJ Classics. Maybe it hadn't sunk in yet but Michael Jackson is really gone, heaven bound, literally. The unthinkable. He sang his songs with so much emotion. You felt all happiness, all pain, all anger or whatever feeling the song called for in his notes. I fell in love with him during a road trip from Chicago to Ohio with my parents. OFF THE WALL was the album. I was a itty bitty thing but I remember listening to that album all the way there and again on our way back and by the time we got home a few days later, I knew the lyrics to the whole album. I mean I knew about the "ABC" era (before my time) but this album was soothing. Every time I hear "I can't help it", I can envision myself in the back seat that night on a highway with my parents jamming. It's so cliche' but you really don't miss a person til they are gone and that is sad. What I've learned is that the media loves to build you up to castigate you and that's just what they did to Michael. I will not go into detail about all that in my blog. No sir! I just want him to Rest In Peace. I want him to have the kind of peace he did not have here on earth. What I desire now is for music to take a turn for the better. I hope all musicians are inspired to make songs that feed the soul. I'm hoping that artist like Usher and Maxwell can bring some heat this year. I need good music!!!!! Not want. NEED!!!!! We lost the GREATEST entertainer of all time and he will never be forgotten. Thank you Michael for all the happiness you brought into my life through your performances and soul touching ballads. We will always love you...

Happy Birthday Tupac
I remember exactly where I was. Chicago. I was in a car with friends. I cried like a relative or close friend died. We had to pull over. We went out and got faded and poured out liquor for him. I still can feel the emptiness I felt whenever I think about that night. He really touched me with his words(very deep)and his delivery. He was much more than a rapper, he was a revolutionist. He probably would have been doing something political now if he was still with us...
California Love and 2 Live And Die In LA is one of the reasons I moved to LA to follow my dreams. I wanted to experience it for myself. He made it look so good. I'm glad I did :) Calfornia Love wasn't one of his deeper songs but it captured his Gemini fun loving free spirit.
R.I.P. PAC. YOU ARE TRULY MISSED.

Black Dynamite
I am so looking forward to seeing this! Michael Jai White plays the main character "Black Dynamite" and he also co-wrote the screenplay. This movie has been hitting the film festival scene all year to great reviews. Blaxploitation finally done right. Hopefully they'll have another screening in LA so I can get a chance to see it early before it's official release date, Sept 4th and hopefully they'll have a sequel so I can be in it. ;)

All About Eve
One of the best portrayals of betrayal in the entertainment industry EVER. Even though made in 1950, it still rings true about the cut throat people in Hollywood you encounter. This was Marilyn Monroe's debut movie. She had a very small part. The stars were Betty Davis and Anne Baxter and they gave chilling performances. A definite must see. I love this movie!!! This clip is just scene I found with all of the actors from the movie in it. Enjoy.
