Sundance Film Festival 2011

So I was able to go to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah for the first time this year! It was an awesome experience. My crew rented a house that slept 8 people. It was so cozy and cute. We saw a few films and went to a few parties to network. I ran into some friends I hadn't seen in a while that are still doing their thing in the business. It was an amazing time! Here are a few photos from the festival and a video of me getting some private ski lessons at one of the best ski resorts in the world, Deer Valley Ski Resort. Overall it was one of the best times I have ever had in my life :)

Me with a Sundance regular!
At the Swagg gifting suite :)
New Oscar Nominee -- Nick Quested
Hair stylist to the stars and dear friend of mine! Larry Sims!

Jaqueline Fleming had a film screening there! Go girl!

Fancy

So I am in preproduction on a new show we are producing independently.  I can't talk about the project yet. Sorry.  Here are the first two hair/makeup stylist pics.  I think we may have found the one but we have a couple more people to see...

Death At A Funeral Premiere

The movie was funny with a very talented, star studded cast. I had a blast at the premiere catching up with people I hadn't seen in a while and networking with execs at the after party. It was freezing last night so I opted to cover the legs for a little comfort. I've already gotten bad press about the high boots and long dress but what do they know lol! Overall a great night with so many stars in attendance like Martin Lawrence, Eddie Murphy, Tracy Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Angell Conwell, Regina Hall, Chris Rock, Marlon Wayans, Columbus Short and Ciara to name a few.  My business partner and friend Ann Flagella came as well.

My Script

Finished finally. My first one. I'm very proud of myself because I have been wanting to write it for years but procrastinated over and over again. Now the next step is getting her made. I'm taking off my writers hat and putting on my producers hat and we are officially in preproduction. Produced by my production company, Heaven Lee Films. Stay tuned.

Inglourious Basterds Screening At The Directors Guild Of America

So I was invited to see a special screening of Inglourious Basterds, a movie I had been wanting to see for quite a while. I even tried to catch the matinée near my house and there were technical difficulties, so the movie was cancelled. Yes I know, weird. So when I got the invite a few days later I was so excited. Especially being moderated by the director, Quentin Tarantino himself. Someone I would give my pinky toe to work with! No but seriously he is one of the best writers and directors of our time and I was absolutely thrilled to get some game from him.

The movie itself was creatively genius, but what more do you expect from a Quentin Tarantino film? From start to finish it had the audience at the edge of their seats with laughter, disgust from the gore, amazing wit and incredible shots. The storyline was top notch. It's like, where the hell does he get these thoughts and plots from? He truly has to be semi-crazy lol, in a good way. I don't want to give away any of the story if you haven't seen it yet but I love love love the ending. Brad Pitt was amazing as usual and you could tell he had a lot of fun making this. Christoph Waltz probably will win an Oscar for his portrayal of Col. Hans Landa.

So after the movie ended, the whole cast joined the stage, including Brad Pitt :):):) Needless to say, I was a VERY happy camper!!!! lol! Whew that man is fine even with a long beard... They all answered questions from the audience filled with people in the business and shared some funny moments during the making of the film. Secrets were shared about certain moments to give us a better understanding of how it is to work with Quentin and how each person got casted. I am so inspired after that. Nothing like a great movie to get your creative juices and motivation flowing again. That moment put jumper cables on my dream. It was better than going to the premiere.

Bottom line if you have not seen this movie yet, run and see it asap!!!! Especially if you are bored with the same old non-risk taking film making.

Dead Tone Premiere In Chicago

I'm kind of late on this because I have been traveling so much! I haven't blogged in forever! Finally made it back to the west coast then moved in to my new crib blocks from the beach!!! Playa Vista is the name of the city but I'll get back to that in another post :)

Dead Tone is a great horror movie that had a very gory beginning that I loved! It was an honor to be invited and I also ran into a few old buddies I hadn't seen in awhile. It was held at the Ice Theater on Sept 3rd, to a very welcoming crowd. A few people recognized me from my work and asked for autographs. That always makes me feel good, especially because this business is a roller coaster and it takes almost a type of insanity to survive it. lol You have your good days and your bad ones but as long as you keep the negative, hater type of people far far away, and surround yourself with positive people with like-minds you'll be fine.

Anywho, enjoy the pics from that night!

In attendance... The stars of the movie... Brian Hooks (writer and director), Cherie Johnson, Antwon Tanner... as well as special guests.... Bobby Jackson (NBA),Monte O'Quinn (NBA), Malik Yusef (Poet) and Jannero Pargo (Chicago Bulls), TJ Armour and David Leonard (Radio Personalities). Deon Taylor (Director,Writer, Producer) was the person who brought it to Chicago, being from Gary Indiana originally and is working with community based organizations to bring entertainment to inner city neighborhoods. Out for a great cause :)

Check your listings to find out where you can see DEAD TONE.

Rewind Wednesday - Wu Tang Clan - Gravel Pit

This probably was one of the most creative video sets I worked on. Joseph Kahn (director) did his thing and Scott Lazarus(casting director RIP)was in rare form...

Rewind Wednesday - Dave Hollister

This was fun because it was my first time acting with a recognizable actor Allen Payne and I got to play evil. Then again, in most the stuff I've done, movies and all I played the bitch. It's fun :) Hopefully none of my male friends are dealing with this kind of female! Happy Early Father's Day!!!!

Doll Talk

So I created a show called Doll Talk with me as the host. I will be posting a teaser of it when it's done being edited. It will have a little bit for the girls AND the guys because we will be talking about a wide range of topics while chilling on different beaches. The hotter it gets outside, the hotter the topics will be and the bikini's. Stay tuned! :) Thank you Tyger Yvonne and Balyndah Bumpus for participating and being such good sports. True Dolls!
